“There is no planet B.” - Emmanuel Macron, French President.

We need to change now. At Visual Studio, we believe in the power of marketing to drive positive change for our team members, clients, and the environment we share. As a member of the Singapore business community, we are committed to aligning our operations with global sustainability goals, such as the Singapore Green Plan 2030  and The Paris Agreement under UNFCCC

Our Approaches

1) Sustainable Events
We acknowledge that events and exhibitions can leave a significant environmental footprint. That’s why we advocate integrating sustainable practices from the start of the planning process, from venue selection to incorporating digital solutions and reducing waste.

Venue Selection: Prioritize venues with strong environmental credentials and a commitment to Sustainability, such as those certified by the Singapore Green Building Council.

Digital Solutions: Utilizing digital marketing and event technologies, whenever possible, to reduce paper usage and carbon emissions associated with travel and transportation.

Reducing Waste: Implementing comprehensive waste management strategies, including recycling and disposing of waste responsibly, to minimize landfill waste.
2) Advocacy and Upskilling

We believe in empowering our clients and partners to embrace sustainable practices. But first, we need to unlearn old practices, learn new industry standards, and relearn new methods to adopt a long-term mindset toward Sustainability.

The Singapore MICE Sustainability Certification (MSC) is a newly developed framework that guides an industry-wide approach to Carbon, Waste, Energy, Water management, Social and human resource competency, and Procurement. Visual Studio is working alongside SACEOS to be among the first companies in Singapore to achieve the MSC certification.

In alignment with the Singapore MICE Sustainability Roadmap, SACEOS and NTUC LearningHub have co-developed the Certified Event Sustainability (CES) accreditation program to raise sustainability standards across the MICE industry. This program is integral to the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the Singapore MICE Sustainability Roadmap. Our senior leaders are on track to becoming CES-accredited, further endorsing our professional knowledge in Event Sustainability.

3) Commitment to Change

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN Member States, outlines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve global prosperity while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

As a marketing agency with offices in Southeast Asia, Visual Studio strives to contribute to international sustainability efforts, particularly in these areas:

  • SDG 5: Gender Equality: We support gender equality by ensuring equal opportunities, inclusive hiring practices, and pay equity throughout the agency.
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: Our Waste Minimisation Plan advocates minimizing waste and reducing energy consumption through operational protocols and practices.
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals: Our Green Procurement Policy stipulates clear preference for environmentally preferred vendors and services.

The commitment to change comes from within, and we are committed to making small changes in our everyday lives. Visual Studio worked with the Singapore Environment Council to implement environmentally friendly practices by increasing eco-consciousness among staff and helping reduce the usage of paper, water, and electricity. The SEC acknowledged Visual Studio’s efforts by awarding us the Eco-Office certification in 2023.

Climate change and environmental degradation have become widespread recently. Interest in adopting a greener lifestyle is now less of a trend and more of a necessity.

We urge our partners, suppliers, and team members to work together in a concerted effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle. That is our commitment to Earth because there is no planet B.
